Common Causes of Divorce

The euphoria one experiences during the early years of marriage eventually fades as the years go by. It is a fact of life and an inevitable reality. Some couples, however, may choose to stick with the relationship knowing that the romance is not the only reason for their marriage. On the other hand, others may find that saving the relationship is no longer worthwhile hence leading to separation or possibly divorce.
Marriage is no bed of roses, and as such, it is something that should not be entered into lightly. For some religions organizations, it is a lifetime commitment, wherein divorce is not even an option. That being said, it is important to know the most common causes of divorce in order to help determine if a huge decision is indeed in order. Is this relationship is worth saving?
Lack of communication is one of the main reasons of separation and divorce. One or both parties simply refuse to talk things through hoping instead that by ignoring it, the problem simply fades away. This is not always the case. Issues kept bottled inside usually fester up and eventually explode. The act of listening, or the lack thereof, also goes hand-in-hand with this problem.
Money can also be a reason for a marriage breaking up. Different philosophies in handling finances (i.e. one is a saver while one spends like there’s no tomorrow) can cause disagreements later on in the future, most especially when finances are tight and unexpected emergencies come up.
Broken trust is also a major cause of separation and divorce. Cheating partners tend to ignore the risks involved and instead go on with the affair with no regard for one’s partner. Once the deception is discovered, trust can never be fixed or if it does, requires a lot of hard work and understanding from the aggrieved party. More often than not, this leads to an eventual break up.
Harmful addictions can also be major causes of divorce. Gamblers and extreme alcoholic addictions are no laughing matter. These harmful habits require constant supervision, assistance and guidance. These problems also lead to harrowing and potentially dangerous scenarios even for one’s children, leading to accidents, loss of trust or even death.
It is important to note that divorce is not just limited to only one specific problem, but may arise due to a number of factors. By being aware of the common causes of separation and divorce, these concerns may be immediately nipped at the bud and proper ways on how to fix a marriage can be determined.
