A trust is a legal relationship whereby one individual (the settler) transfers his or her assets (the trust fund itself) to another individual or company (the trustee) who holds and manages these assets for the benefit of others (the beneficiaries) named by the settler. There can be a range of different benefits to having a trust including privacy, tax planning, asset protection, succession planning and asset consolidation and management, a range of benefits you may not quite fully understand!
